After sweeping the Oshawa Generals, 4-0, in the J. Ross Robertson Cup finals, London Knights stars and Philadelphia Flyers prospects Denver Barkey and Oliver Bonk have won the OHL Championship and are moving on to the Memorial Cup.

In their demolition of the Generals, the Knights scored no fewer than seven goals in each of their four wins in the series. Barkey scored three goals and eight assists in the series and has 27 points in 18 playoff games so far. Bonk, on the other hand, also had three goals and posted five assists. The defenseman is up to 16 points in his 18 playoff games up to this point.

Both Knights standouts were selected in the 2023 NHL Draft; the Flyers used their second first-round selection (22nd overall) on Bonk, and snapped up Barkey with the 95th overall pick in the third round.

The 2024 Memorial Cup will kick off in eight days on May 24 in Saginaw, Michigan, and will conclude on June 2.

Denver Barkey, Oliver Bonk, and the Knights will be facing the hosts, the Saginaw Spirit, the QMJHL champion Drummondville Voltigeurs, and the WHL champion Moose Jaw Warriors.

For the first time in CHL history, the OHL, QMJHL, and WHL champions all swept their series in four games.

Alexis Gendron represents the Flyers, too

Fellow Flyers prospect, 2022 seventh-round forward Alexis Gendron, will be competing against Barkey and Bonk as a member of the Voltigeurs. Gendron briefly played for the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, this season, scoring five goals and seven points in 17 games before being returned to Drummondville.

The 20-year-old only managed to play in 16 games for the Voltigeurs this season, scoring 10 goals, eight assists, and 18 points in the regular season. In the playoffs, Gendron has been just as good, scoring 11 goals, eight assists, and 19 points in only 15 games.

In addition to watching Barkey, Bonk, and Gendron, the Flyers might also want to keep an eye on Saginaw defenseman Zayne Parekh, one of the top prospects for the 2024 NHL Draft.

Parekh is currently ranked as the No. 5 North American skater by NHL Central Scouting and scored 33 goals, 63 assists, and 96 points from the blueline this season. Last year, Parekh set the OHL record in goals by a 16-year-old defenseman with 21. Parekh is also the only OHL defenseman to lead his team in scoring this season, and did so by a comfortable 21-point margin.

The Flyers hold the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
