Isaiah Hartenstein claps back at Sixers center's comments ahead of playoff matchup

Isaiah Hartenstein isn't concerned about Paul Reed's recent comments. The Philadelphia 76ers big man appeared on Thursday's episode on FanDuel TV's 'Run it Back." He noted how the Sixers preferred facing the New York Knicks in the playoffs as it was an easier path than facing the Boston Celtics.

Nevertheless, Hartenstein is focused on the upcoming series between the two teams.

"I mean, that's his thoughts at the end of the day," Hartenstein said. "We're focused on what we've gotta do. I think that's what podcasts do, they get you comfortable and then people just say s--t. We're focused on us. Whatever comments they have, they have."

The Knicks won't be an easy out for the Sixers. Despite a string of injury issues, Tom Thibodeau led his team to second in the Eastern Conference. New York will undoubtedly be looking to test Joel Embiid's fitness. They will likely push the pace and see how the 2023 MVP copes with the rigors of a potential seven-game series.

Jalen Brunson is heading into this series as the biggest threat. He is the healthiest star talent. He will likely spearhead New York's offense. Reed's comments could backfire. They could light a fire under the Knicks, making life harder for Nick Nurse's team.

After adding OG Anunoby, Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks midway through the season, the Knicks will harbor hopes of making it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Defeating the Sixers in the first round would potentially create an easier path for them to achieve that goal.

Reed will likely have a significant role to play as Philadelphia's backup big man. It's up to the Knicks to show him why his comments were misplaced.

The Sixers and Knicks will likely be the marquee matchup of the opening round. Reed has added some spice to the proceedings. As such, whoever walks away with the win will have bragging rights heading into next season.
